Top Ten Tuesday: About All the Shows

This is the first time I’ve participated in a Top Ten Tuesday so here goes. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created and hosted at The Broke and The Bookish. If you’d like to read more about the meme click here.

Top 10 TV Shows

Oh boy this isn’t going to be easy but I shall give it a shot.

  • Monk

This show is near and dear to my heart. It may even be the first time that I ever got into a live-action show so much so that I made sure to NEVER miss an episode. I loved the mystery infused with comedy. This show was pure genius to me and I cried real tears when it ended. It reminded me of a modernized Columbo which I’ll get to soon. Monk was similar to House which isn’t on the list but if I had an honorable mentions list that would definitely make the cut. Also, I used to think up scenarios of what it would be like if somehow Monk ended up meeting House. At the time I was watching both shows I had no clue about the restrictions that stood in the way of them doing a crossover episode. If you’re a fan of one or both shows how do you think their-Monk and House- encounter would be?

  • Scrubs

Looking over this list I noticed this is the only sitcom. There are other sitcoms that I absolutely love but for one reason or another this show made the cut. One of my best friends recommended this show. She always talked about it but I had no idea what it was until one day I saw a DVD at the library and checked it out. I was so excited to have the DVD that I hadn’t realized that I checked out Season 6. Story of my life! From season 6, I somehow managed to watch out of sequence which is something that I just don’t do. I have no idea what was going on with me that summer but I ended up finishing with season 1. I enjoyed ever season of the show and was sad to see it go. I felt like, in my watching the show it made the friendship of my bestie and I a bit stronger. My favorite episode is probably My Musical. It was full of so much…well…music. I loved how they took a rare condition and used it as a backdrop for the episode. Now the Intern season was a mistake but there were some pretty great actors-Dave Franco, Lee Thompson Young (RIP), Aziz Ansari- that stuck with me. I felt that last season wasn’t fair because I’d already made peace with losing the show and they turn around, comeback and get cancelled. I’m pretty sure as a TV viewer that forever scarred me.

  • Wildfire

This show was probably the one that started me watching shows as their aired weekly but I had to catch this one during encore episodes that aired on Fridays. I was drawn to the outcast that had a troubled past but sought redemption story. I absolutely fell in love with the setting-on a ranch-and the animals. The characters were likeable sometimes but I loved the whole show. My cousin and I made sure at least one of us watched because growing up if your homework wasn’t done NO TV and if it was a school night lights out by 9pm. I think this show came on at 8pm but at some point it may have started to air at 9pm which was a problem for me. One of these days I may revisit the ole ranch to see if I was just seeing through rose colored eyes, if perhaps my views have changed or if it’s still a great show. I’d love to see what I think now if I were to watch the show as an adult.

  • Ugly Betty

This show was very appealing to me because I’ve always loved soap operas and as many people know Ugly Betty is based on a telenovela- a Spanish soap opera. I loved all the nonsensical plot lines that would never fly if it were any other show but somehow worked. In my opinion I never thought Betty was ugly but I suppose media would say differently because their standards are so warped. I think I appealed yet again to the outsider. Are you picking up on a theme here? Yes, I was an outcast. In some ways I feel that I still am but it’s not always such a bad thing. When you accept yourself it does make matters better.

  • Grimm

I picked season one of this show up at the library. I popped in the first disc and was very impressed. I had to know more so I kept watching and now I’ve gotten news that the upcoming season-6- will be the show’s last. I’m so saddened by the news but I’ll give it time so that I may heal. I must say, the pilot episode had a Harry Potter vibe to it but that may be because there’s a person destined for adventures and has powers that would take them to great places but expose them to grave peril.

  • Jane the Virgin

This show was such a joy to see especially after Ugly Betty had gotten cancelled. I love this show for almost the same reasons I loved Ugly Betty. I do love that Jane speaks to her conscious self a la Lizzie McGuire. Perhaps JTV makes me nostalgic because it reminds me of Lizzie McGuire. Perhaps it’s that it reminds me of Ugly Betty but there’s something magical that exists while I watch Jane the Virgin.

  • The Flash

Who doesn’t love a good superhero show? There are others, currently on air but this one is done right. I enjoy watching each season and am very excited for the upcoming season.

  • Columbo

I know this show is very old and classic but there’s just something about it that appeals to me. This show may be the reason I gave Monk a chance but I feel I would’ve given it a chance anyway. Both shows are great and now I’m nostalgic.

  • The Walking Dead

It took me a while to try this one out. I remember I thought once I gave it a chance I’d think it was meh but after really paying attention to the show I was drawn in and most of the time I watch it with others so it’s an audience, almost an event like viewing.

  • Game of Thrones

This list wouldn’t be the same without properly adding  this multi-genre, behemoth of a show. Dracarys! This has me fired up for new and old shows to air. Come on Fall 2016/Spring 2017 AIR ALREADY!!!

As always thanks so much for reading and stopping by. Did you do a Top Ten Tuesday? Feel free to share it BELOW

    1. That’s great that you found the show. It’s so fun! It filled the void left behind by Ugly Betty’s absence. I love the crazy plots going on and am excited for the show to return. Are you caught up?
